Q: I was told God won’t hear my prayers if there’s sin in my life. Is that true?

A: I hear this one all the time. And the short answer is, “Not at all!”

Think about it this way. Imagine calling your dad on the phone, and he says, “Sorry, son—I can’t talk to you right now. You were disobedient last Tuesday, so I’m hanging up. Call me back when you’ve got your act together.”

You’d never do that to your kid. So why do we assume God does it to His?

Somewhere along the way, we turned prayer into a reward system. We got out our calculator and started correlating how many sins we’ve committed with how many prayers might get answered.

But God keeps no record of your wrongs. No record means no record. No blocked prayers. No sin barrier between you and your Father.

Peter actually says it plainly:

“The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears attend to their prayer” (1 Peter 3:12).

And who are the righteous? All who are in Christ. That means you.

And Romans 8:1 says,

“Therefore there is now no condemnation at all for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

You are forgiven by Christ’s blood, not by your apologies. And a forgiven person can pray with confidence. God isn’t checking a ledger—He’s listening to His child.
