“Examine yourselves? Get right before going to the altar?”

What is baptism in the Holy Spirit? When does it happen? Are we supposed to examine our recent sins before we take communion? And why does Paul say to “test yourselves” in 2 Corinthians 13? Finally, what about Jesus saying to get right with others before you go to the altar?
