This is where things get uncomfortable.
Because we’ve been told our whole lives:
“The Ten Commandments are your guide.”
Paul says something very different.
He calls the law written on stone—yes, the Ten Commandments—
“the ministry of death… the ministry of condemnation” (2 Corinthians 3:7–9).
That’s not a light statement.
That’s not, “They’re helpful but incomplete.”
That’s: they condemn and kill.
And Romans 7 backs it up.
Paul says, “I would not have known coveting… but sin produced in me coveting of every kind” (Romans 7:7–8).
The command didn’t fix him—it fueled him.
So what’s going on?
The law is perfect. That’s the problem.
It demands perfection—and offers zero power to achieve it.
It’s like a mirror showing you dirt on your face… but offering no soap.
So if the law isn’t your guide, what is?
A Person.
“Christ lives in you” (Galatians 2:20).
“Those who are led by the Spirit are not under the law” (Galatians 5:18).
You don’t have a list to follow.
You have a life to live.
Not stone tablets.
A living Christ.
That changes everything.
